The Industry Advocate’s main priorities are to:
An objective for the Office of the Industry Advocate is to support the development of the advanced services sector, and importantly leverage opportunities for innovation.
A growth and innovation objective can apply to all strategic public sector and private projects supporting innovation local businesses through their procurement decisions.
A key to successful procurement for innovation is the “intelligent customer” who is able to demand, source and identify potential new solutions, and can specify and manage contracts of this kind throughout their life-cycle.
South Australia’s economy is driven by small businesses with over 90% being in that Small to Medium Enterprise category. A large number of these businesses want to tap into State Government contracts. That’s why the government established the Industry Advocate to help support the thriving small business sector in the State. However, it is acknowledged this will require active collaboration across State Government agencies, firms, and industries to ensure the objectives of local businesses winning State Government contracts are met.
