Governors’ Aboriginal Employment Industry Cluster Program

The Governors’ Aboriginal Employment Industry Cluster Program now attached to the Office of Industry Advocate, is an employment initiative highly supported by the government.

The AEICP is an employer led initiative established to facilitate increased employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in South Australia, with an emphasis on skill development.

There are over 150 businesses actively participating in the program in 2021, all with the same objectives that focus on upskilling, employment and support of First Nations South Australians in the wider community and their businesses.

The eight industry Cluster groups that help drive the initiative by offering employment opportunities and advise, professional and technical services, and medical and health profession support include:

  • Building and Construction
  • Creative Industries
  • Defence Industries
  • Civil, Energy, Infrastructure, Water & Resource
  • Information Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Manufacturing and Distribution – establishing in Feb 2022
  • Medical and Healthcare Services
  • Professional and Technical Services
  • Tourism and Hospitality

The team is keen to include businesses on the Clusters that have a genuine commitment to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, either directly or through their networks.

2022 will be focused around employment and retention strategies as we work with our First Nations Recruitment Talent Pool.
