In some instances, higher value / higher complexity procurements will incorporate a tender briefing. This can occur before the procurement process formally commences or after the tender has been released.

Information about pre-tender briefings are provided through SA Tenders and Contracts and agencies may also elect to communicate about briefings via email.

Whilst attendance is optional, it is highly recommended that you attend these briefings as they usually include a ‘Question & Answer’ session where bidders can learn more about the tender on offer. For some tenders, the pre-tender briefing will be provided online through a webinar or as a YouTube or Vimeo clip, making it easier for bidders to access this additional information.

Remember, to ensure fairness and equity in a procurement process, the details of any questions asked at a briefing, and the answers are normally shared with all bidders. This is something to consider if your question relates to some confidential aspect of your business or intellectual property (IP).

Quick Tip

If you can’t attend a briefing, don’t worry. A copy of the briefing presentation and details of any questions asked and answered will usually be made available online.
