Genuine industry participation is not about special treatment or price preferencing for local firms, but rather recognising the important contribution businesses make to the South Australian economy through labour and other supply inputs.

“South Australian labour” for the purpose of the SA Industry Participation Policy (incorporating Industry Participation Plans) is labour performed in South Australia/Region by a person who has their principal place of residence in the State/Region.

The South Australian Industry Participation Policy creates opportunity to expand the economic opportunities for South Australia, including:

  • Regional Development
  • Aboriginal Economic Development
  • Other Socio-Economic Objectives
  • Design and Specification
  • Developing Innovative Products or Services
  • Industry Development and Investment Attraction
  • Private Sector Projects
  • The Steel Industry.
